Klarna has 2 methods available, we support both Klarna Checkout (now rebranded as Kustom) as well as Klarna Payments.

Existing Klarna Checkout account will be contacted by Kustom to migrate.

Existing Klarna Payments accounts for now are staying with Klarna.

Managing your orders:

New Kustom accounts & Existing Klarna Checkout accounts: Orders are managed through Kustom.

New & Existing Klarna Payments accounts: Orders managed through Klarna.

To set up Kustom (Previously Klarna Checkout) on REC+:

  1. Create a Kustom Account.

  2. Log in to the portal and in the sidebar, go to "Integrations".

  3. Select the store that you want to connect and click "+ Add API Key".

  4. In REC+, go to Connect > Payment Processors > Klarna > enter the Username and Password provided in the previous step.

  5. Select the Region (EU vs US) and Purchase Service > Select Klarna Checkout

  6. Optional: Enable Automatic Order Capturing with the "Enable Order Capturing" and "Order Capturing Lines Mode" settings -  With just the first ticked it will capture the order when the first item on the order is despatched, while when the second tickbox is ticked it will capture each order line individually allowing for partial despatched orders to be captured in Kustom and once an order is fully despatched it'll also be fully captured in Kustom.

  7. In Admin > Payment Processor Manager > Klarna > you can set up Payment Zones, specific Categories or Users.

  8. Set the Status to "On" and set the mode to "Sandbox" - this allows admin accounts to check the integration without normal users seeing it on checkout.

  9. Once happy, set the mode to "Live" and re-check it appears as expected on the checkout page (customers will be able to see it now).

Please note, for Test/Developer accounts, as of 21/07/2025 you'll need to use Klarna for testing rather than Kustom.

To set up Klarna Payments on REC+:

  1. Visit the Klarna business page > Contact Us > Create a Klarna Business Account

  2. Complete the dropdown options about your expected revenues
Dependent upon what you enter you may need to discuss setting up an account with Klarna first.

6b. Here you can also optionally enable auto capturing "Enable Klarna Order Capturing" and "Klarna Order Capturing Lines Mode".

With just the first ticked it will capture the order when the first item on the order is despatched, while when the second tickbox is ticked it will capture each order line individually allowing for partial despatched orders to be captured in klarna and once an order is fully despatched it'll also be fully captured in klarna.
